John Henry Kepler, 82, died peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas where he lived for the past 27 years; he leaves behind his wife, Hortensia; stepchildren, Jerry and Rosie; and several step-grandchildren.
He was born on September 18, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Wayne T. and Rosalyn (née Foster) Kepler. John graduated from North Side High School, served in the Indiana National Guard, and retired from International Harvester (Navistar). He was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church, the Freemasons and Mizpah Shriners in Fort Wayne.
John loved cars . . . his favorite memory was his 1958 Chevy Impala, and he would talk of it often – wishing he still had it. His sons enjoyed times spent with him at car shows, discussing online car shows and generally talking about cars, past and present.
John will be dearly missed by his sons, Ronald Kepler and Daniel Kepler; granddaughter, Olivia Kepler; sister, Pamela K. Sowers; and niece, Deborah Gobiel; as well as other family members and friends who were important to his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
