

He was born June 6, 1943, in Kankakee, Illinois, the son of late Rev. Weldon Orlando and Celina Alva (Amstutz) Klopfenstein.
He graduated from South Side High School in 1961 and was married to Lucinda (Walters) in 1998.
John was a salesman throughout his career and a co-founder of Complete Drives Inc. where he retired from in 2014.
John called himself Jack of all Trades, Master of None and a Spam aficionado.
John’s passions were music as he could play multiple instruments including the guitar, piano, and the harmonica.
He loved spending time with his family, storytelling, watching NASCAR, and taking pontoon boat rides with his dog, Charlie.
He collected coins, stamps, guitars, and knives.
John had a wonderful sense of humor, a talent for drawing illustrations, and writing songs.
In his later years he and Cinda enjoyed the winter months in Panama City Beach, Florida spending time relaxing with their friends.
John is survived by; his wife of 27 years, Lucinda Klopfenstein; sons: John W. (Lisa) Klopfenstein Jr., David F. Klopfenstein, and Christopher M. Klopfenstein; granddaughters: Alexis E. and Anna K. Klopfenstein; grandson: David McFarland;
Step-daughters: Gail (Todd) Wininger, Amanda (Sean) Cassidy, Angel (Dan) Mullins, Nicolette (Todd) Bashford, and Amber Styborski; Step-sons: James Walters and Noah Walters; Grandchildren: Luke, Kyle, Nathan, Lucy, Mallory, JJ, Lilly, James Robert, Ivy, Kiahya, Atticus, Khalessi, Astrid, Jacob, Ellie, Lydia, Skyler, Katelyn, and Owen.
John was preceded in death by his four sisters; Ruth Mildred, Lornelle, (Robert) Teeters, Lucille (Donald) Tallman, Victoria (Charles) Johnson: two Granddaughters: Taylor and Penelope.
A celebration of life will take place on June 6, 2026, at 2 PM, at his home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
