John Albert Myers, 69, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away May 23, 2026, at Majestic Care Hospice. He was born January 25, 1957, in Fort Wayne, IN, a son of the late Charvis James Myers and Sue Ann (Kyle) Conover.
John attended Wayne High School before enlisting in the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1974 to 1977. His years in the military carried him to Germany and Colorado. He later lived in Las Vegas, NV for many years before returning home to Fort Wayne.
John’s working life was rooted in automotives. He was a self-service mechanic and worked for Pep Boys for many years, and he spent most of his working years as a truck driver, and a school bus driver. His children fondly remember sitting on their dad’s lap behind the wheel of a truck—an enduring memory of time-shared and the larger-than-life moments he was known for.
John was no stranger to a good time. Always quick with a joke, friends will remember him turning on the old “Myers' charm” at familiar Fort Wayne gathering places like Bootleggers and Granite City—where his warmth, humor, and sociable nature made him a welcome presence. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and his baby blue Maverick, and he carried that same adventurous streak outdoors, whether at the beach, the lake, or on a camping trip.
A wonderful cook, John collected many cherished recipes and cookbooks over the years. He was also an avid football fan, cheering for the Colts, Broncos, Chiefs, and—depending on who you ask—the Dolphins, his son's favorite team.
John is survived by his children, Johnathon Myers, Kristie Lee, Phillip (Daniella) Myers, and Matthew Cooper; his grandchildren, Spencer Myers, Jackson Myers, Rylee Myers, Maelen Lee, and Johnny Ray Myers; his great-grandchildren, Taylor Myers and Arden Myers; and his siblings, Beth Myers, Sandra Imel, and Jeff Malone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charvis James Myers and Sue Ann (Kyle) Conover; his siblings, Trudy Tigner and Dennis Myers; and his brother-in-law, Gary Imel.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 am at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Foster Park, 6301 Fairfield Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior.
