John Leonard Ramsey

John was a man who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to James L. and Hilda J. (nee Glenn) Ramsey, and spent his life building a family, friendships, and memories that will continue long after his passing.

John was known for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his ability to make people laugh. To his family, he was so much more than a husband, father, grandfather, and brother-he was someone they could count on, someone who made them feel loved, and someone whose presence made life better.

John was a devoted family man. He and his wife, Judith, shared 51 years of marriage, building a life and raising their family together. He was a proud father to his children and a loving grandfather. His family was one of the greatest sources of joy in his life.

John worked for the telephone company for 46 years before retiring in 2019. He was also a lifelong problem-solver with a talent for figuring out how things worked and, more importantly, how to fix them. Whether it was a garden tractor, motorcycle, vehicle, or just about anything else that had stopped working, John had a knack for bringing broken things back to life. If something was broken, John wanted to see if he could fix it.

He had a particular love for BMW motorcycles and looked forward to attending four motorcycle rallies each year. His love of motorcycles was just one of the many things that brought him happiness and gave him adventures and stories to share.

But John's greatest legacy will not be measured in the years he worked, the motorcycles he rode, or the things he repaired, it will be found in the people who loved him---in the laughter he shared, the kindness he showed, the problems he helped solve, the memories he created, and the family he loved so fiercely.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Judith F.; his children, John D. of Gainesville, Florida, Daniel J. (Katie) and Amanda F. (Tim Miller), both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his brothers, James E. (Delores) and Larry W. (Diana), both of Fort Wayne; and his grandchildren, Alexa, Emily, Joshua, and Natalie.

He will be remembered not simply for what he did, but for whom he was-a funny, kind, hardworking, loving man who was deeply loved and who made a difference in the lives of the people around him.

There will be no public viewing or services. Memorial contributions may be made in John's honor to the American Heart Association or to the Brain Research Foundation.
