John Andrew Smith

John Andrew Smith, 42, of Brimfield, Indiana passed away on May 24, 2025, while vacationing in Johnson City, Tennessee. He was born November 14, 1982, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, son of the late John Hakey and Mary McCave, who survives.

John graduated from South Side High School in 2001. He was in the Air Force from 2012 to 2017, at which time he received an honorable medical discharge.

He was a surgical tech at the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 5 1/2 years where he enjoyed his time spent with all of his co-workers. He also worked at Advance Auto Parts in Auburn, Indiana.

John enjoyed working on his house and on cars. He also enjoyed traveling, vacationing with family and being outdoors; he had a special affinity for the State of Tennessee. He loved helping and talking with people he met while going camping and hiking. He made friends easily and created wonderful memories with everyone he spent time with.

He is survived by his wife, Debbi Method; mother, Mary (Jeff Abshire) McCave; stepfather, John McCave; children, Destinee (Nathan) Leamon, Skyler Moore, Ava Brown, Kayson Smith, and Jackson Smith; step-children, Santana Garza and Diamond Garza; brothers, Chad (Becky) Smith, Matt McCave, Scott (Jeanne) McCave; and brother-in-law, Chris (Heather) Trosclair.

John was preceded in death by his father and his sisters, April Trosclair and Cristy Blair.

Funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons - Pine Valley Park - Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with visitation two hours prior.
