Glenn was born on September 15, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Joseph and Thelma (Todd) Edwards. He attended Jackson High School and later graduated from Big Bend Community College.
In 1979, Glenn proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he earned the Expert Badge with the M-16 rifle and the Sharpshooter Badge with Hand Grenade Bar. He served honorably until 1982 and continued his service in the National Guard until 1995. In recognition of his leadership and dedication, Glenn was awarded a Medal of Honor from the State of Florida for his efforts during Hurricane Andrew relief.
On March 20, 1981, Glenn married the love of his life, Rhonda (King) Edwards, at Dinsmore Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Their love story began when Rhonda was just 10 years old, climbing a tree to watch Glenn ride his motorcycle. During Glenn’s first year in the Army, the two became pen pals, a connection that quickly grew into lifelong love. They shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.
Glenn was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Jeffrey) Kegerreis and Crystal (Neil) Webb, and his cherished grandchildren: Lucas Knutson, Wesley Kegerreis, and Adeline and Kimber Webb. He took immense pride in attending their activities. Whether it was Luke playing baseball, Wesley competing in karate tournaments, Kimber at gymnastics meets, or Adeline participating in Ninja competitions. Some of his most treasured moments were spent fishing and making memories with them at the lake.
Glenn began his career working in his family’s construction business in Florida, framing new homes. He then earned his CDL and spent over 20 years working as a commercial truck driver. Wanting to be closer to home, he later joined Sabert Corporation, where he had planned to retire in September of this year.
An outdoorsman at heart, Glenn loved camping, fishing, and biking. He and Rhonda even built their own camper from a metal frame he designed. Together, they enjoyed exploring quiet, off-the-beaten-path places to camp, bike, hike, and fish. Their travels out West and visits to national parks were among their favorite adventures, with Moab, Utah, holding a special place in Glenn’s heart. He also loved long bike rides with Rhonda and friends. A passionate fisherman, Glenn built his own fishing boat from a bare hull and took great pride in it. While he liked to say he caught the most fish, he always admitted Rhonda caught the biggest.
Glenn was a man of deep faith. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Fort Wayne and, most recently, attended Big Lake Church of God in Columbia City. Known for his humility and kindness, Glenn was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything and never hesitated to come to the aid of family and friends. God also blessed Glenn with a beautiful voice. He shared his gift by singing Christian music with his group, New Hope, traveling to churches and nursing homes to bring comfort and joy to others.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Rhonda (King) Edwards; his daughters, Heather (Jeffrey) Kegerreis and Crystal (Neil) Webb; his grandchildren, Lucas Knutson, Wesley Kegerreis, and Adeline and Kimber Webb; his parents, Joseph and Thelma Edwards; his sisters, Teresa (Richard) Wood, Deborah (Clint) Gilley, and Connie (Ralph) Gilbert; father-in-law, James Prescott; sister-in-law, Beth (Ed) Pulichene; brother-in-laws, Paul (Vonda) King and Lawson (Carla) King; as well as many nieces and nephews.
