

JOSEPH B. LONGARDNER, 94, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017. Born Oct. 15, 1923, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Flora M. (Koch) Longard ner. Joseph was a World War II veteran and a recipient of Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star awards. During his service he fought in the European Theatre, the Battle of the Bulge, and served as a paratrooper. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal in 1945. Joseph worked at Indiana and Michigan Electric Power for 40 years before his retirement. He was an IBEW lifetime member, a Free Mason, and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his sons, Scott J. (Vickie) Longardner and Craig T. Longardner, both of Fort Wayne; grandsons, Brian S. (Sara) Longardner, Kent S. (Jennifer) Longardner, Joseph S. Longardner, and Jacob K. Longardner; and great-grandchildren, Drew A. and Tessa C. and Leena M. Longardner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dolores on Jan. 12, 2013; and brother, Harold A. Longardner. Service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
