Karen Ann Cross

Karen Ann Cross, age 73, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024. Karen was born January 9, 1951 in Syracuse, New York to the late Alfred and Shirley (née Haffenden) House of Hastings, NY.

She graduated from Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square, NY. Karen would marry the love of her life, Richard B. Cross on May 13, 1972 in Central Square and would relocate to Great Falls, VA. They would relocate to Fort Wayne in 1991. Karen was a school bus driver for over 30 years, both in northern Virginia and Fort Wayne prior to her retirement from Southwest Allen County School District in 2020.

Karen had many loves and interests including flower gardening, travel, her dogs, Charlie and Sadie and driving the Homestead Spartans Alliance Marching Band to competitions. She cherished the time spent with friends and family the most, especially the grandchildren; whether playing checkers and board games or attending their various school events, soccer, baseball, and football games, she adored every minute.

Karen is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard; cherished children, Amy Hoffman of Middlebury, IN and David (Melisa) Cross of Fort Wayne; beloved grandchildren, Hannah Hoffman, Hunter Hoffman, Tyler Cross and Logan Cross; and brother, Gary (Linda) House of Saint Augustine, FL and Paul (Sherry) House of Hastings, NY.

Funeral Service is 4:30 pm, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at D.O.McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road with calling 1 to 4 pm. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
