Katherine M. Coleman
June 30, 1932 – June 9, 2021

Katherine M. Coleman passed away on June 9, 2021. She was born in Moorhead, Iowa, on June 30, 1932, the daughter of Adolph B. and Minnie (Peterson-Sonberg) Johnson. In 1949, she graduated from Onawa High School and on March 10, 1953, she married Jack A. Coleman of Spencer, Indiana. She had been employed by the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Bowmar Instrument Corporation, and Indiana Michigan Electric Company. She was an active member of the Waynedale, Sonrise at Aboite, Ossian United Methodist, Spencer, and Dunfee Missionary churches. She enjoyed entertaining, reading, note writing and sending cards, crocheting, and gardening. She and her husband also maintained and landscaped the churches in Spencer and Ossian. She was a devoted IU fan, extremely proud of her Danish heritage, and adored her beloved family. Surviving are a son, Mark W. (Cathy) Coleman of Ossian, Indiana; a daughter, Mary B. (Steven) Mauger of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Derek M. (Olivia Fabian) Mauger and Alexa R. (Daniel) Hansen, both of Fort Wayne; and great grandchildren, Arlo A. Mauger, Caleb C. Hansen, and Elsie M. Hansen, all of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack A. Coleman; a brother, Nels C. Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Edward Coleman. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Lutheran Life Villages, 6723 South Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46816 with visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Memorials in honor of Katherine may be made to Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice or American Cancer Society.
