Kenneth Marshall Dixon

Kenneth Marshall Dixon, known to many as Kenny, was born August 21, 1943, in Tampa, Florida, and passed away on August 16, 2026, at his home in Fort Wayne, Indiana, just five days before his 83rd birthday. He was 82.

A beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Kenny will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Kenny was married for 57 years to Patsy Lee White (Dixon) until her passing in April 2021. Together they built a life centered on family.

Kenny raised four children: David Keith Dixon, Cheryl Ann Dixon, Shelly Lynn Dixon, and Cary Sue Dixon. He is survived by his children David, Shelly, and Cary Dixon, and was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl Ann Dixon.

Kenny is also survived by two grandchildren, Jordan Ehren Frevert (Wife Kelly Frevert) and Travis Keith Dixon, and by three great-grandchildren, Phinehas, Thaddaeus, and Titus Frevert.

Kenny is survived by his siblings Rex Dixon and Shirley Fugate, and by his sister-in-law Linda White Parcell. He was preceded in death by siblings Chuck Dixon, Bessie Dixon, and Dale Lybarger. He was also preceded in death by his parents Joseph Arvon Dixon and Effie Pearl Jones, and by his stepfather William Lybarger.

Kenny served in the United States Air Force and dedicated many years to work marked by responsibility and service, including Angola City Police Dispatch, service as an Angola Police Reserve Officer, Armed Guard Security, and retirement from Modern Air in Angola.

Kenny found deep enjoyment in the outdoors and especially in wildlife, taking genuine pleasure in sharing what he knew with his children. He loved watching birds and fishing, and he took pride in cooking for his family—simple moments made meaningful through his presence. He also loved basketball, cheering for the Celtics and the 76ers.

Music was another lasting joy. Kenny loved westerns, country music, and golden oldies, and he was known for a wonderful singing voice that helped inspire in his children a love of music that endures.

Family time often meant cards, and Kenny’s table was a place of laughter and togetherness. Euchre, Spades, Poker, Rummy, and Kings In The Corner were among the favorite games that shaped many shared memories.

In his later years, Kenny became known among friends at his assisted living home as “Cowboy.” He could often be seen in cowboy hats—sometimes glittered or sequined—paired with brightly colored shirts, riding his electric scooter at top speed. Kenny was loved by many, and his quick wit and sense of humor brought lightness and warmth to those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held September 27, 2026, from 2–6 p.m. at The Japanese Pagoda Pavilion at Swinney Park (main entrance), Fort Wayne, Indiana. Picnic-style foods and drinks will be provided; guests are welcome to bring a favorite dish to share, though it is not necessary. The park is wheelchair accessible, with wheelchair-accessible restrooms. A playground is next to the pavilion, and basketball courts and a baseball field are available for those who wish to enjoy the park. Kenny’s love for the outdoors, his devotion to family, and the steady kindness that made him so beloved will remain in the hearts of those who carry his memory forward.
