Beth, Linda, and Greg, I wish I could have stayed in town and spoken to you in person. I was fortunate to be able to have a short visit with your mom.  I have many warm memories of your dad as we, the neighborhood children, grew up. Many times when I was back to visit mom and dad, I would see Ken out in back and we would have a nice chat over the backyard fence. I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank the Lord for the true gift of Ken Lauer in our lives for so many years.

Dear Jo and family, Our years next door were the best.  As we have gone far from Tacoma, we have tried to carry forward the spirit of neighborliness that you and Ken lavished on us.  Peter is now grown but his world was shaped by the early years and going to Mr. Lauer's library. Ken would take an interest to show him a special exhibit or new book. He was our Mr. Lauer and we will carry him in our hearts always.

I enjoyed the brief time I worked with Ken Lauer at the Shawnee Branch during the summer of 1993 just prior to his retirement. Ken helped my beginning as librarian to be a pleasant one.

Dear Jo, Beth, Linda, and Greg I am so sorry for your loss. I regret being so far away I won't be able to attend the service. When my daughter Melissa showed an interest in reading we frequently visited the library near Southgate. I remember walking in and seeing Ken, telling Melissa how our family knew him. He was a kind and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed. You and your family are in my prayers.

He was the most beloved head of his children and grandchildren, and even of those who were fortunate enough to be friends of his children.
