Kyle William Thomas, 52, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at his home after entering hospice while valiantly battling cancer. Born April 21, 1971 in Boise Idaho, he spent his childhood and adult life in the Boise area and established his home there until relocating to Fort Wayne, Indiana in April of 2021.
Kyle worked in a variety of settings, but most of his employment was in the health care industry; as a medic, nursing assistant, long-term health care operations, and most recently as an optician. Kyle had varied interests, but he had a true passion for art, design, cars, and all things food. He loved to spend time at home as much as he did spending time with family and friends
Kyle is survived by his husband, Brad Yoder whom he married November 5, 2021, his loving parents, Ron and Laurie Winkles of Caldwell, Idaho, one brother Ronny Winkles of Idaho, and his much loved cat, Oliver. He was preceded in death by his former partner Philip Jarski, brother Philip Winkles, and grandparents Herbert and Jessie Springer, and Lucile Winkles.
Kyle was welcomed into his Indiana family by Andrew, Emily, Silas and Eleanor Russell; MeganYoder and Trevor Curry; Clayton, Allison, Delilah and Archer Clifford; Trevor, Bethany, Evelyn, Josephine, and Rosalee Bolt; Mikael Badgett and Jay Bammerlin.
Though his time in Indiana was short he will be missed, just as his many loving family and friends in Idaho will also mourn his loss. The memory of Kyle’s positive attitude in the face of adversity, his authentic love and care, his bright wit, and his perseverance will be his lasting legacy.
Celebrations of Kyle’s life will take place in both Fort Wayne and Boise later this year.
Memorial donations may be given in Kyle’s name to the Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. cancer-services.org
