
Lawana Meisner, 96, of Fort Wayne, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at her home. Born Nov. 28, 1915 in Steuben County, she was the daughter of Shirley and Eula Dell (Teegardin) Sanxter. A 1934 graduate of Manchester College, she taught elementary school in Steuben County for 11 years. An accomplished seamstress, she helped to open the fabrics department at Sears Glenbrook and worked there until the department closed. She was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Survivors include daughter Edwana (James McCleave) Meisner of Old Town, Maine; son David (Marilynn) Meisner of Fort Wayne; grandchildren Justin (Nikole) Meisner and April (Jason) Johnson of Fort Wayne, and Chloe Meisner of Lewiston, Maine; great-grandchildren Audrey, Max, and Jakob Meisner; and Koby and Isabel Johnson, all of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin D. Meisner, and her four siblings, Geraldine West, Marian Buttermore, Donald Sanxter, and Virginia Walker.
