Lena Rose Mendell, 84, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Connersville, died on Tuesday September 4, at Golden Years Homestead, Fort Wayne. The Harrisburg native was the daughter of the late Oliver N. and Pearl A. (nee. Hardwick) Smullen. She retired from WCI in 1995 after 20 years of service, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Wayne.
She is survived by her daughters; Darlene (Wally) Wall, and Terry (Doug) Goodwin, Siblings; Mildred (George) Zimmerman, and Maynard Smullen, along with eight Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday September 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2213 Brooklyn Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling from 6 -8 PM Friday September 7, also at the church. Also a memorial Mass will be held at a later date in her hometown of Connersvile, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 232 W. 9th St., Connersville. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, for the needy.
