Leo R Casso

Leo R. Casso passed away on August 8, 2021 at the age of 95 years in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a native of Ft. Wayne, IN, was educated at Ball State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in education. Leo did graduate work and obtained a Master’s degree in education after doing work at Indiana University and Michigan State. He worked summers beginning in the 1950’s as a starter, hanger, and league handicapper at Foster Park, Shoaff Park, Colonial Oaks, Cedar Creek, and finally RiverBend golf courses, working through his 94th year. He taught and coached at Franklin Jr. High, was a guidance counselor and assistant principal at Portage Jr. High, worked in administration at FWCS for many years and returned to the classroom as the Assistant Principal at Lane Jr. High to end his teaching career.

He is survived by wife Shirleyanne, children: Angela Green, Leanne (Michael) Beeching, and Anthony Casso, grandchildren: Hillary (Dan) Braden, Astin Green, and James (Anne) Green, great grandchildren: Hendrix Braden, Finola Braden, Leo Braden, Maren Braden, and Eleanor Green.
