Linda Marie Pickerman

Linda M. Pickerman, 74 of Fort Wayne, IN died on May 3, 2023 at Parkview Hospital Randallia surrounded by her husband and sons. She was born May 17, 1948 in Lima, OH to Herbert and Jeanette (Fortman) Wannemacher. On October 28, 1972, she married Jason L. Pickerman. He survives along with their two sons: Joel (Susan) Pickerman, Dexter, MI; Mark (Lisa) Pickerman, Fort Wayne IN; and five grandchildren: Dexter, Elizabeth, Ciara, Theodore and Archer.

Linda was one of seven children. She is survived by sisters and brothers: Edith Wannemacher, Findlay OH; Gary (Kerry) Wannemacher, Downers Grove, IL; Eugene “Gene” (Katrina) Wannemacher, Haines City, FL; Ann (Larry) Carter, Omaha, NE; and Ellen (David) Schroeder, Glasgow, KY; and two sisters-in-law: Judy Wannemacher, West Milton, OH; and Saundra Wannemacher, Ocala, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. James “Jim” Wannemacher, her oldest brother, preceded her death.

Linda graduated from Maumee Valley School of Nursing in Toledo, OH in 1969. She worked for Dr. Meidler Dermatologists and Associated in Toledo, OH, St. Joseph County Health Department in Centerville, MI and various Managed Care Organizations before joining Lutheran Hospital/MedPartners where she worked for 24 years.

Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was always planning some fun “adventure” or “experience” for them. She never disappointed them. Linda was tenacious, ornery, stubborn, fun loving and independent. She was also an avid reader. Sometimes reading two or three books at the same time. She had a style all her own! She liked to travel, hike and walk. Linda was very competitive. It was evident in the Fitbit Challenge she had with her family. She enjoyed art fairs, shopping and all kinds of technology. Linda volunteered in the Fort Wayne community. She helped establish and maintain a local garden, was a Fort Wayne Art Museum volunteer and most recently volunteered in the Live Butterfly Exhibit at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory. She was also active in the Windsor Woods Home Association.
