October 3, 1938 – March 29, 2025
Carole Weilbaker-Ivins passed away on March 29, 2025, at St. Anne Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ross “Tack” Weilbaker and John Ivins; and her brother, John (Jack) R. Clawson III.
Carole lived a life marked by fun, faith, and an unwavering love for her family. With her enthusiasm for life, she was very successful in sales and brought the fun wherever she went. She loved to laugh and make others laugh too, even if unintentionally. Her humor was never filtered, always spontaneous, and unmistakably Carole. She was an avid reader and loved to play Euchre and Rummikub—she could play for hours! She wouldn’t turn down a margarita or chips and salsa, and she never ate a turtle sundae she didn’t like. She had a generous spirit of hospitality.
Carole loved the Lord and was an active, founding member of her church, Sovereign Redeemer Church in Harlan, where she loved worshiping with Pastor Eddie and her church family.
Community service was important to Carole. She served many years as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer, was a 40-year member of the Cedar Creek Women’s Club, and, in her younger years, served as a Brownie leader.
She is survived by her daughters: Crysti (Brian) Everhart of Mt. Airy, NC; Candace (Lou) Weilbaker-Simek of Pittsburgh, PA; and Caroline (Jeff) Doherty of Fort Wayne, IN—as well as her “fourth daughter,” Debbie Menshy of Grabill, IN. She was the proud grandmother of: Chelsey Everhart (Orange County, CA), Cameron (Melissa) Everhart (Matthews, NC), Zoe Coleman (Pittsburgh, PA), Slater (Mary) Simek (Manchester, UK), – Quaide (Alizah) Simek (Washington, DC), Sterling (Asher) Passalinqua (Pittsburgh, PA). Carole adored her great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Eliana, and Sutton Everhart, the children of Cameron and Melissa. She is also survived by her sister Joan (Bob) Buhr; her sister-in-law Kathy Clawson; godson Jake (Jerika) Clawson; and several dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Carole will be deeply missed—the hilarious stories, moments where she made people laugh (even at her own expense), and the love for her family will be the memories that carry on her legacy.
