Lorraine K. Barton, 50, of Fort Wayne, went to be with Jesus on November 13, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, and is now in heaven with God. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Wanda Mae (nee. Tierney) Shaffer, and while with us loved cooking, sewing, crafts, nature, and animals, she worked at Kingston Care Center of Fort Wayne, as a CNA.
She will be dearly missed and cherished by her Husband; Mickey Barton, Sons; Michael (Natasha Jackson), and Christopher (Krystina Hogeston) Barton, Brother; Ralph (Shelly) Shaffer, her beloved dogs; Harley, and Jack, and cats; Mischief, and Samantha. As well as many caring friends, and family. In her memory, her favorite poem, Footprints in the Sand; One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.
Other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life
When I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord, "You promised me, Lord,
That if I followed you, you would walk with me always.
But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
There have only been one set of prints in the sand.
Why, When I have needed you most, you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints
Is when I carried you."
Rest in peace dear, see you in Heaven. Out of respect for her personal wishes private services will be held. Preferred memorials are to the ASPCA, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society.
