

Lorraine Mejer, age 95, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Auburn Life Villages, Auburn. She was born on March 3 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Theodore Ulmer and Jean Bradley. Lorraine was a devoted wife and mother before attending Ball State University where she received her BSN degree in mental health nursing. She then mentored under the watchful eye of psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Fiacable for many years. After his retirement, she resumed her education and received her counseling licenses in psychology and joined the psychiatric practice of Dr. Getta Bisht as a therapist until her retirement three years ago.
Lorraine was keen on traveling. She spent most of that time in Aruba where she enjoyed spending time with family. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed non fiction, auto biographies and military novels.
She was an inspiration to all that she helped through the decades spent serving our mental health community. She is treasured by many and will be missed by many more.
Lorraine is survived by her three children, Victoria Armstrong of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Daniel Mejer of Montgomery, Alabama; and Bradley Mejer of Delta Junction, Alaska; along with two granddaughters, Lauren and Paige Armstrong both of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Emery “Major” Mejer.
A memorial calling is scheduled for 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, March 20, 2026 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home-Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
