Obituary of Lorraine Frances Spitler
Lorraine F Spitler passed away on June 23, 2022 at her home. Lorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years Robert Spitler in April. Lorie was born in Hammond, Indiana as the eldest of 3 children to Frank and Josephine Mazur. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death as well. She is survived by her children, Lisa Morgan (Mike Morgan) and Patrick Spitler (Lisa LeFevbre Spitler) and grandchildren, Tyler Spitler, Riley Morgan (Katlynn Morgan), Caitlin Morgan, BreAnna Welch and Austin Welch. Born in 1939, Lorie was the first college educated child in her family, attending Ball State University and graduating with both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Speech and Hearing Pathology. As a speech therapist, Lorie had an illustrious career that spanned 50 years, working with people from newborns to elderly adults. Lorie loved her career and continued to offer speech and development advice well into her 80s. Lorie and Bob met at Ball State University and married in 1961. Lorie and Bob were in their 61st year of marriage providing a great example of a couple’s love and devotion to each other. They traveled extensively, from the Bahamas to the western United States, sharing a love of gambling, good entertainment and shopping and their photos and art reflect their interests. Their last trip was in February 2022 just prior to Bob’s passing in April. They loved life, their family and each other. A celebration of life for Lorie will be held later in July, mirroring her beloved husband’s celebration. The anticipated date is July 24, 2022 at Turner’s in Fort Wayne.
