

Louise E. Buzzard, 91, of Fort Wayne, died October 8, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born August 23, 1922, in Columbia City, she was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Sylvia M. (Thatcher) Lantis. She attended Unity Church of Christ, Fort Wayne where she served as secretary, musician, board member and Sunday School Superintendant. She later was a member of Heritage Community Church, Auburn, which was founded by her son Rod. Louise also worked at the Allen County Public Library, volunteered for elections for the Republican Party and was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels, for many years, and enjoyed being artist. “She was known as an amazing, loving, gracious, wife and mother; she considered her greatest love and legacy to be her husband and children.”
She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Homer J. Buzzard, a retired Teacher in Fort Wayne Community Schools; children, Pam Erb, a Retired Special Needs Teacher, Tom (Cindy) Buzzard, a Businessman and Ordained Minister, Rod (Kathleen) Buzzard a Pastor and Evangelist, Pete (Tracy) Buzzard, a Retired Chemical Engineer and Missionary, and Anita Smothermon, an Elementary School Teacher; sisters, Virginia (Guthier) Wampler, Jannette (Hartman) Caley and Dorothy Stocksdale; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday October 12, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Pastor Steve Ardhuerumly officiating, with calling from 9 to 11AM prior to service. Memorial donations may be given to Homebound Meals, Fort Wayne.
