He was born on January 3, 1929 to Herman and Elsie (Boggs) Klemm, Sr. Lyle spent his childhood in Noble County and attended Churubusco High School. He was a Marine Corps veteran. He married Mary A. Fletter on November 11, 1950. Together, they had two children and raised them in Churubusco. Lyle married Mary Lou Clark on June 23, 1973.
He retired from Central Transport in 1995 and continued to work locally until the age of 85. Lyle was a true craftsman. He enjoyed woodworking, home improvement, and helping his neighbors. At his core, he was a storyteller. And he continued telling those stories, making everyone laugh up until his final days.
He is survived by his son, Lyle A. (Barbara) Klemm; his daughter, Marianne (Doug) Bowers; his granddaughter, Heather Nelson; his grandsons, Wesley T. Nelson and Braden Nelson; and his sister, Carolyn Hanauer.
In addition to his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Clark) Klemm; his sister, Maxine Rule; and his brothers, Arnold Klemm, Walter Klemm, and Herman F. Klemm Jr.
Funeral service will be 1:30 PM Monday, August 24, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46825, with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service. Committal and burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
