Mabel F. Koenig

Mabel Frances (Klausing) Koenig passed away into the Lord’s arms on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 5:20PM at Hospice Home after a brief illness. She was born on May 4, 1929 in Columbus Grove, Ohio. She married James Leo Koenig on October 25, 1952 and together they raised three daughters and owned and operated Jim K’s Pizza Restaurants in Fort Wayne and Waynedale for over 30 years. She was a homemaker in the early years of her family and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and golf.

She is survived by three daughters, Debra A. (Harry) Baker of Coldwater, MI; Jane M. Williams of Fort Wayne; and Lynda S. (Mike) Slagal of Ashley, IN. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Eric and Chris Baker of Coldwater, MI; Ben, Rachel and Graham Williams of Fort Wayne; and J.D. Dennis and Amanda Allen of Ashley, IN. Also, she enjoyed watching her family grow as she added 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Koenig in 1999 and son, David Koenig, in 1958. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00am Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 Fairfield Ave. with calling one hour prior. Fr. Cyril Fernandes officiating. Visitation is 6-8pm Monday at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton, Winchester Rd. Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
