Madalene Carol Smitley

Madalene C. Smitley passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at Coventry Meadows Memory Care Facility where she had been a resident for four years. She was born June 10, 1938, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Frank Camos and Artincia Allen. She retired from General Electric. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing scrabble.

Madalene is survived by her children, Kristina Combs of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Robert Adkins Jr. of Waynedale, Indiana; and Carol McGee of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by her stepchildren, LaNae (John) Abnet of Geneva, Indiana; Jeff (Denise) Smitley of Vandalia, Michigan; and Cassie (Blair) Ballard of Tennessee. She has 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Madalene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronnie G. Smitley, of Ossian, Indiana; a brother, Robert Camos of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and her sisters, Delores Meyers of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Judy Holman of Marion, Indiana; her sons, Richard Adkins of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Tony Adkins of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and her daughters, Susan Adkins of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Brenda Pafford of Memphis, Tennessee.

Private services will be held with interment in Covington Memorial Gardens. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Smitley family.
