OBITUARY

Marc Wayne Heffelfinger

June 3, 1956May 8, 2021

Marc Wayne Heffelfinger, 64, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 8, 2021. Marc was born in 1956 at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA. He was a 1974 graduate of Carroll High School in Fort Wayne.

Marc worked tirelessly his entire life, spending over 30 years with Irmscher Suppliers in Ft. Wayne, where he was a well-respected employee. Marc has been employed by the Community Harvest Food Bank for over 10 years, as well as working for the Ft. Wayne Parks and Recreation Department.

Marc was a die-hard sports fanatic, who loved following, and watching all types of sports, as well as being an avid (highly average) golfer, who loved the game. One of Marc’s greatest joys was watching his son Kris grow up playing hockey. Marc was truly a “rink-rat”, even becoming a Zamboni driver. Marc’s wonderful sense of humor and personable nature will be missed by his loving family and his many friends and co-workers.

Marc is survived by Tammy (Mathieson) Heffelfinger, his devoted wife of 37 years; his son Kris Heffelfinger, and step-son Corey Baumgartner (Michelle); his parents Bonnie (Schnepp) & Richard Heffelfinger; sisters Michelle Everson (Bruce) and Jill Kacer (Kevin); as well as his 6 adoring grandchildren; his aunt Shirley Underwood; sisters-in-law Sharise Mathieson, Patti Scott (Jay), and Jan Mathieson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Ft. Wayne, on June 5th, 2021 from noon to 2:30. Graveside services will be 2:30 to 3:00. Memorials to Foellinger-Friemann Botanical Conservatory, Fort Wayne, IN.

Marc was a pleasure to work with these past 6 years. He always had a story to tell and a smile on his face. I enjoyed waking him up, when he would doze off playing video games before work. I still look for his car every morning, hoping we just had a bad dream...
Community Harvest Food Bank will miss his work ethic, dependability and ability to treat everyone with respect.
My sympathy to Tammy and Kris, as I know he was looking forward to retirement at the end of the year.

So sorry for your loss. Marc was a good friend to everyone. and I will really miss him. He had a great sense of humor and he was always so dependable. I appreciated his care and concern for my family and others. We had fun as Zamboni drivers at McMillen Ice Arena. My family and I will always remember our kind friend.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I've not had contact with him for many years but I do remember babysitting for him and his sisters. That was a long time ago. Condolences to the family.

As I watched the sunset on Lake Michigan last night it gave me some time to reflect on a really great friendship. I first met Heff in 1979 as a new employee at Irmschers. Little did I know after working with him and attending Concerts(Pink Floyd at Soldier field in Chicago ) and sporting events throughout the years how much I valued his true and genuine Friendship! True Friends are such a great gift in this Crazy Life and one should always cherish that for as we know it’s only temporary long or short. I will always think of Marc as a little Brother even though he was a bit older. My sincere condolences to Tammy, Kris, and Cory as well as all the family and friends. Rest In Peace my Little Brother. I hope your wacking a few golf balls with Trinkado😎! God has this as always ! Patrick Suever and Family
