Marcie, as she was lovingly called, was a graduate of St. Paul’s Lutheran School and South Side High School. She briefly attended Skadron Business College.
She was previously employed by General Electric Company, Wolf & Dessauer Department Store and Trans Designs where she was an interior custom decorator.
Her community involvement included: Girl Scout Brownies and Boy Scout Cub Pack Leader; President of Demolay Mothers; Master Degree Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; Sunday School Teacher; Organizer and Trainer with the Red Cross Gray Ladies at the Angola Hospitals; National Association of Business and Professional Women; Steuben Woman’s Club and Trillium Garden Club (Fort Wayne).
Marcie’s number one priority was taking care of home and her family. She enjoyed china painting, gardening, knitting, crocheting, original design sewing, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Dayton Hensel; parents, Otto and Eugenina Gotsch; brothers, Paul Gotsch and Mark Gotsch; sister, Eugenia Hitzeman Grant; and daughter, Barbara L. Hensel.
Marcie is survived by her children, Michael (Michele) Hensel, Deborah (Steve) Hekman, and Heidi (Jeff) Fields; six grandchildren;11 great grandchildren; and many other near and dear family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes – Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with a memorial visitation starting at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Riley Hospital for Children.
