

Margaret “Peggy” Wisman Beerman Barnes, 94, passed away February 3, 2015. She was born on January 19, 1921 in Van Wert, Ohio to the late Andrew and Bernice (Williams) Wisman. Her family moved to Fort Wayne when she was 5 where she graduated from North Side High School. Peggy worked at Gardner’s Drive-In with her sister, Ginny. Margaret and her 1st husband, Rex raised their five children on a pony farm outside of Poe and attended Poe United Methodist Church most of her life. Peggy was an avid athlete playing tennis, volleyball, bowling, and swimming. She was a former YMCA board member. She and her brother, Jack, won the Senior Olympics in Fort Wayne for several years in a row, retiring only “to give others a chance to win.” Peggy played tennis at Wildwood Racquet Club daily until she was 83. This is where she met her 2nd husband, Bob Barnes. She lived out her last 10 years with many wonderful friends and care givers at Heritage Park on Hobson Road. Surviving family include her son, Scott (Jane) Beerman, daughter, Kelly (Scott) Stelow; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her 1st husband, Ralph “Rex” Beerman, her beloved children, Randy, Roxie, and Mark; granddaughter, Ivy Marie; great granddaughter, Marilynn Rose; 2nd husband, Bob Barnes; brother, Jack; and sister, Virginia. A funeral service will be 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne with visitation beginning at 11:30 am. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to American Alzheimer’s Association or Parkview Hospice.
