Margarete K. Matiszik, age 103, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Lutheran Life Villages at Inverness. Margarete was born in Seehofen, (Germany) Poland on February 19, 1920, a daughter of the late Gustav and Katharine (nee. Muth) Kirste.
Her favorite pastimes were gardening and worshipping the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Matiszik in December of 1996; siblings, Martha Rapsch, Marie Behrendt, Frieda Biewald, Ella Hedenus, Gertrud Rüdiger, Erich Kirste, Anna Picht and step-son, Reinhold Matiszik.
Margarete is survived by her sister, Lischen Minartz; step-daughter, Hilda Moeller; four grandchildren, Stefani Bunzel, Nicole Waters, Mark Matiszik and Christopher Matiszik; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
We have lost our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She was a survivor of many life events over 100 years with a strong faith in God that never wavered. She was a faithful soul and a blessing to all who met her. Rest is peace, Margarete.
