Marian Archias Montgomery Randall was born in Sedalia, Missouri, in 1936, remaining close to her extended family throughout her life. After attending St. Mary’s School in New York with her cousin Elise, she earned a B.S. from Cornell and later an MED from the University of Cincinnati. She met her husband, Fr. Cory Randall, at the Cornell Episcopal chaplaincy; they married in 1960.
A dedicated educator, Marian taught in Connecticut, Ohio, Indiana, and California, helped found Canterbury School, and later led the science curriculum at La Jolla Country Day School. In retirement in Michigan, she remained active with the ECW, Colonial Dames, and Detroit Historical Society. Marian was named Tutor of the Year in 2004 in Pontiac.
Marian was known for her thoughtfulness, joy, and unwavering faith. She shared love through daily home-cooked meals, prayer, and reading with others. Her enthusiasm was infectious, her kindness legendary; she never had a mean word for anyone.
She is survived by her children, Sarah SSM, Elizabeth (Patrick) Delaney, and Rebekah; grandchildren, Corey (Caralyn), Carter (Sarah), Riley, and Molley; great-grandchildren, Liam, Charlotte, Jude, and James; and her brother, John. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cory; and sister, Ellen. A Eucharist of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 611 West Berry Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46802 with visitation one hour prior. A private burial will be held in Sedalia, Missouri, in August. Donations in Marian’s honor may be made to Canterbury School or the Associated Churches Food Pantry in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
