MARIAN RUTH WALTZ, 73, passed from this earth on January 22, 2025, and is now at home with her heavenly Father. She was the second youngest daughter of six of Frances and Robert Waltz of Detroit. She is survived by her husband of 51years, James Goetsch, a daughter Melody and a grandson Aiden Soellinger. She is also survived by a brother Fred Waltz of Minnesota, sisters Margaret and Doris of Michigan and Vivian of France as well as by many other relatives. After completing Detroit’s Redford High School, she graduated with a degree in Urban Studies from the University of Michigan. She helped organize Walks for Development to alleviate local and international poverty and served as treasurer of the nonprofit the Third World Shoppe beginning in 1975. Marian played violin in the Purdue Fort Wayne Orchestra and sang in the Community Chorus. Her organic garden was recognized by the Indiana Bicentennial. She was voted Volunteer of the Year by Northeast Indiana Volunteer Administrators, recognized as a Lifetime Achiever during Welcoming Week and awarded the Joan Coslow Beacon of Peace by Indiana Center for Middle East Peace. Funeral services for Marian will begin at 2:00 P.M., February 15, 2025, at Shepherd of the City Lutheran Church, 1301 South Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46803. Calling will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
