Marianne graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH in 1950. She was the preschool Education Director at First Presbyterian Church for 25 years and retired in 1990. Marianne was a dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Chancel Choir since 1975.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Gilbert of Fort Wayne, IN and Jeffrey Gilbert (Troy Cline) of Davidsonville, MD; sister, Helen Pierson, Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Jamie Gilbert of Fort Myers, FL and Angela Reed of Arlington, VA.
Marianne was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. William Mead and James R. Platt DDS; and brother, William T. Powell.
Memorial and Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 West Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Music Series.
