Marilyn Clara Gorrell

Marilyn C. Gorrell, age 95, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023; peacefully, in her residence at Mercy Elderly Assisted Living, Spring Texas. She was born on September 29, 1928, in Fort Wayne, to the late John and Adalinda (Ostermeyer) Schremser.

Marilyn graduated from Central High School. She married Robert E. Gorrell, in 1948, in Fort Wayne. Marilyn was a secretary for 21 years, with Eastern Express, from which she retired in 1977. She and her husband moved to Leesburg, Florida in 1984. She was a member, with her husband, in Holy Cross Lutheran Church Fort Wayne, and Bethany Lutheran Church of Leesburg, Florida. She was an active parishioner until moving to Spring Texas in 2014. Mom had fond memories of neighborhood gardens, making root-beer and the competitive aspects of shuffleboard and political campaigns while enjoying life with family, friends and neighbors; especially summer travels with her husband and those they befriended along the way

She is survived by her two sons, Michael (Gemma) Gorrell and Dr. Thomas (Theresa) Gorrell; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Gorrell; two sisters, and two brothers.
