

Marilyn Weiker Waffle, 91, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born January 9, 1931, in Toledo, OH, the daughter of the late Walter and Florence (Ullrich) Weiker.
Marilyn graduated from Devilbiss High School of Toledo in 1948. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Toledo in 1952 and earned her Bachelor’s in Education. Marilyn was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Brookside Community Church, and was a 35-year volunteer at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. She met Jim Waffle while in high School and dated throughout college. They married June 6, 1953. Marilyn went on to teach Business in Oak Harbor, OH, and in Ida, MI. After they moved to Fort Wayne, she taught Business and Shorthand at Indiana Business College. Marilyn became the Director of Constituent Services for Congressman Richard Lugar, Dan Quayle, Dan Coats, and Mark Souder for 20 years. She later worked for the Jewish Federation. She loved children, animals, birds, and visiting lighthouses. Marilyn and Jim were longtime Komet ticket holders and avid fans. She is survived by her daughter, Katie (Bill) Livingston; son, Joe (Kris) Waffle; grandchildren, Hailey (Josh Lauer) Livingston, William Livingston, Rachel (Will Roark) and Ryder Waffle; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Kristian, and Jaxon Lauer; nieces, Susi Lehtomaa, Salli Ackerman; sister, Phyllis Gogel; and Marilyn’s companion, George Timm. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Waffle, in 2018.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Brookside Community Church, 6102 Evard Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. Private burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
