Marion Gene Hovis Sr.

Marion Gene Hovis Sr., 75, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was born May 23, 1949, in Muncie, Indiana, son to the late Marion and Jewel Mae (Welling) Hovis, Jr. Marion was a U. S. Army Veteran and worked as a route salesman for Little Debbie. He was a member of First Baptist Church of New Haven and enjoyed many outdoor activities. Marion is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hovis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; children, Elizabeth (Carlos) Hovis Hernandez of Mexicali, Mexico, Marion Gene (Joy) Hovis, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Robin Lynn Hovis of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren, Isaac Harris, Zechariah Harris, Aweston Hovis, and Dallas Hovis; great grandson, Aiden Hovis; and sisters, Judi Carpenter, Vickie Baker, Rebecca (Jerry) Proffitt, and Patricia Wood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, TommyJoe Hovis. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:00 pm, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809, with visitation one hour prior to services. Visitation for Marion will also be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
