Marlowe Walter Hecht, 89, passed away August 24, 2023, at his home in Fort Wayne, IN surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 22, 1934 in Lansing, IL, the son of Walter and Esther (Schultz) Hecht.
He graduated from Thornton Fractional High School in 1952 in Calumet City, IL and served in the United States Army from 1957-1959.
Marlowe worked for NIPSCO for over 38 years and retired in Fort Wayne as superintendent in 1990.
Before retiring he was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Marlowe enjoyed playing golf, gardening and was a Chicago sports fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol Hecht of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Linda Hecht; Steve (Diane) Hecht of New Boston, MI; Jim (Susan) Hecht of Naperville, IL; brother, Thomas (Beverly) Hecht of Wheaton, IL; grandchildren, Fletcher, Griffin, Cooper Hecht, Tyler Hecht, Alina Hecht, Jason (Kelly) Hecht; and great-grandchildren, Marlo and Leon.
Marlowe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ruth Rex, Dolores Fisher, Donna Thorn, and Fred Hecht.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1126 Barr Street, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior. Enichement immediately following at Concordia Gardens Cemetery, 5300 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church/School.
