Mary Ellen Allen

MARY ELLEN ALLEN, 87, peacefully passed away on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011. She was born to Herbert and Louella Heddon on October 4, 1922, she graduated from Southside High School in the class of 1940. Mary Ellen was active in the Fort Wayne Community School system. She was the dean of students at Central High School and subsequently at Northrup High School. She enjoyed her bridge club and was active in the Alumni Association. In addition to her employment, she did various volunteer work at Lutheran as well as Parkview Hospital. She and her husband retired to Coldwater Lake, Michigan until his death at which time she returned to Huntertown. She loved her pets and her many years at Coldwater Lake. She is survived by her three sons; Max, David and Steve; grandchildren including Mike, Julie and Terry; great-grand-children; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John M. Allen who died on June 15, 1991; and her beloved dog Sasha. Memorial service is 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Greenlawn Cemetery Chapel.
