Mary Henrietta Jones

Mary lived a life marked by steady devotion—faithfully centered on what mattered most, diligent in the work set before her, and deeply committed to the people entrusted to her care. She was a housewife and later retired from Bennett’s clothing and Vera Bradley, bringing the same hard-working spirit to each season of life.

Mary was active in the deaf community and found enjoyment in simple, familiar pastimes: putting puzzles together, working on word search books, and reading the National Enquirer, People, and other magazines. She also collected Jim Beam bottles. Above all, she was devoted to her family—most of all through the daily acts of cooking and caring for her seven children, a steady presence expressed in countless meals prepared and needs quietly met.

Mary is survived by her children: Cal (Sharon) Roe of Warsaw, IN., George (Celeste) Ellis of Granger, IN., Brian (Susan) Jones of Fort Wayne, IN., Brenda Jones of Grabill, IN., Lisa (Rick) Dye of Fort Wayne, IN., and Judy (Bob) Fleming of Churubusco, IN.; as well as 16 grandkids and 15 great-grandkids.

Mary was preceded in death by George Ellis Sr (Husband); Leon M. Jones (Husband); Neil M Jones (son); Edgar Avis (brother); Crawford Avis (brother); Carol Maryann Fleming (granddaughter); and Baby Beining (Great Baby).

Visitation will be held at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46815, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 2:15 pm to 2:30 pm.
