Mary "Clara" Knox

Mary “Clara” Knox peacefully left her 96 year journey here on earth Friday, January 15, 2021. Her new mission takes her to a heaven where she will re-join her husband Ralph, parents, sister, brothers, cousins, and many life-long friends and pups. She was born December 23, 1924 in Kendallville, IN. We all, as family and friends, are richer humans to have shared our lives with this remarkable woman. A gentle and kind soul, she will be remembered for her servant heart, optimistic spirit, contagious personality, and strong faith in God. Clara treasured her family, their many travels and camping trips, and get-together’s. Her social life was a busy one- wonderful day trips with friends, church events, and grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed reading a good mystery, walking, and nature’s gifts of flowers, birds and critters who came to visit her backyard. Clara was a wicked card player, and not shy about flaunting her wins. For over 70 years she served God at Calvary Presbyterian Church (until its dissolution), and continued her service at her beloved United Faith Presbyterian Church. She was also proud of her 35 years volunteering at Lutheran Hospital. Clara’s presence in your lives may just be more profound in her absence. She left this message to all: “I have been blessed with a loving and caring family, and so many loving friends. Sure some ups and downs, but God gets you through each day, if you ask him- through Jesus Christ. May you all live each day joyfully in God’s Care. Celebrate Life. I’ll see you later- I know it!!” She leaves behind daughter, Colleen (Steven) Hinton; son, James, son, Donald (Bridgette); three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three nephews; and two nieces. A private graveside service will be held. Public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Klahen, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana (46819). A celebration of a life well-lived will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Clara requested that you consider remembrance contributions to her beloved United Faith Presbyterian Church, 1616 West Main Street Fort Wayne, Indiana (46808).
