Mary Yvonne Moore

Mary was born in 1925 to Elmo Smith and Pauline Gerhardstein in Bellevue, Ohio. She was the first formally trained x-ray technologist in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was perhaps best known as the co-owner/operator of Shady Haven Resort at Upper Long Lake, Indiana along with her husband Ed, who predeceased her in 2010.

Mary remains well loved in death as she was in Life. She is survived by her daughter Kristine Southard (David) Odon, IN, son Kevin Moore (Blaise) Fort Wayne, IN, daughter Kolleen Turpin (Bob) Roanoke, IN, son Keith Moore (Amy) Weston, FL, eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Her brothers Paul Smith and Eugene Smith predeceased her.

Visitation will be held at St. Anne Chapel on January 2, 2014 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM followed by a funeral mass. A celebration of life will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Roanoke, Indiana at a later date.

Mary’s family will be forever grateful to the staff of St. Anne for the love and compassion they provided her during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association: 800-272-3900 or the American Legion.
