

Mary Etta Snyder, 91, went to be with her Lord on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born August 6, 1921, in rural Greenup, Illinois, to George Louis Henderson and Oral Effie (Kemper) Henderson. She was the sixth of seven children. She moved to Ft. Wayne in 1939 and worked at General Electric where she met her future husband, Virgil Hiawatha Snyder. They were married on October 23, 1943, at Wayne Street Methodist Church in Ft. Wayne, IN. She was a long-time resident of Waynedale and member of Waynedale United Methodist Church. She and Virgil spent many happy winters in Florida and Texas after they retired from GE in 1972. She loved to play shuffleboard and golf, as well as bowl. More recently, she moved to Lutheran Life Village where she was a Wii bowling champion and scored eight perfect 300 games.
She was preceded in death all of her siblings. She also was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband. She is survived by her three children, Donald Lee Snyder (Sherry) of Cuero , Texas; Janet Lou Novosad (Michael) of Centerville, Ohio; and Terry William Snyder (Betty) of Arlington Texas; her stepson Virgil Eugene Snyder (Eleanor) of Denver, Colorado, nine grandchildren,15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at Lutheran Life Villages Chapel, 6701 South Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46816 with visitation 1 hour prior with pall bearers, grandsons, Christopher Snyder, Brandon Novosad, Nicholas Snyder, Corey Snyder, nephew John Cisney, friends Marcus Aldridge, and Chris Cook. Visitation will also be on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
