Maude Juanita Lapsley

Maude Juanita Lapsley, 87, passed away February 23, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, IN. She was born June 14, 1935, in Newbern, AL, the daughter of the late Clifton and Lunette Atkins. Maude retired from General Electric after 27 years of service. After retirement she also worked at the Fort Wayne International Airport and Snider High School. Maude love to sew and quilt, cook for her family and tend to her flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be truly missed. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years J.C. Lapsley, children, Patricia Lapsley, Cynthia (Terrence) Bady, Denise Rice, Jerome (Penelope) Lapsley, Sherri Lapsley, Melvin Lapsley; siblings, Roberta Horn, Dorothy Williams, Lois Hughes, Eddie (Leticia) Atkins, Willie Lee Atkins, William (Judy) Atkins; sister in law Bessie Lapsley and Luevina Lymon, 8 grandchildren, Temunim Lapsley, LaShonda Lapsley-Martin, Jennifer Lapsley, Justin Bady, Tanisha Rice, Brandon Bady, Ricky Rice II, and Alexis Lapsley; 15 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Maude was also preceded in death by her siblings, Elizabeth Bryant, Luenette Locklin, Isom Atkins, Robert Atkins Sr, Audrey Atkins, Percy Atkins, Clifton Atkins Jr. and Taylor Atkins. Funeral service will be 11 am Friday March 3, 2023, at Pilgrim Baptist Church 1331 Gay Street Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by D.O.
