

Maxine F. Walda-Smith Shaw, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home with her family by her side. Born December 31, 1925 in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Merel Winkle and Emma (Straub) Draper. Maxine was employed with Magnavox for over 35 years, from which she retired in 1988. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Quarter Century Club, and the American Legion Post 82 Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, and making quilts. She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Charles Shaw of Fort Wayne; children, Robert “Bob” (Joyce) Walda of New Haven, Michael Walda of Fort Wayne, Mary Walda (Mike O’Laughlen) of Waynedale, Nevin (Carol) Walda of Huntington, Jonathan Walda of Fort Wayne, and Maxine (Dave) Bolger of West Chester, Ohio; step-daughter, Cathie Leatherman of Fort Wayne; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her former husbands, Ralph Walda & James “Smitty” Smith; children, Ralph "Butch" Walda, Patricia Arquette, Charlene Baumgardner; step-children, James Smith, Bryan Shaw, Charles Shaw Jr., Joann Hagan; brothers, William Draper, Carl Draper, Raymond Draper, Charles Draper, and Eugene Brecht; step-sister, Marie Roberts; and grandchildren, Herbert “Herbie” Arquette and Kevin Walda. Funeral Service will be 3pm on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Advantage Funeral Home, 2403 E. Wallen Road., Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Inurnment will be at a later date at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials can be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice Home.
