Meredith "Sam" Max Sauder

Meredith "Sam" Sauder, 96, of Grabill, Indiana passed away on August 12, 2026.

He was born to Henry and Ethel Sauder on July 24th, 1930. He was one of seven children. He married his wife, Carole on December 15th, 1952. Together they raised two sons, Jeffrey Mark Sauder and Mark Leon Sauder. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage before Carole passed in 2019.

Sam has been a pillar in the Grabill community for decades. He was a local business owner of Sauder Poultry, EFS Poultry, and Sauder Realty. Sam was a lifelong member of Crossview Church in Grabill, where he faithfully served and attended. He was also an Army veteran in the Korean war, a member of the Cedar Creek Lions, served on the Grabill Economic Development Board, and on the board of directors for the Cedars Nursing Home. Sam’s hobbies included hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Rhonda) Sauder of Leo, IN; Siblings, Paul Sauder of Lewiston, ID and Dorothy Moore of Wolcottville, IN; Grandchildren, Zach (Emily) Sauder of Fort Wayne, IN, Craig (Carly) Sauder of Spencerville, IN, Lindsay Sauder of Delaware, OH, Kara (Benjamin) Ballinger of Grabill, IN, and Katlyn (Aaron) Foster of Cardington, OH. He is also survived by three great grandsons and six great granddaughters along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife Carole, his son Jeffrey, and four siblings, Iris Griggs, Marianne Hill, Marge Koch, and Joseph Sauder.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, August 17, 2026, at Crossview Church, 12532 Grabill Rd., Grabill, IN 46741, with visitation from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM, prior to service. Burial will follow in Leo Cemetery.
