Michael Gregory Collins Sr.

November 11, 1945 – May 7, 2026
Obituary of Michael Gregory Collins Sr.
IN THE CARE OF

D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park

Michael Gregory Collins,Sr. 80, passed away on May 7, 2026. Born November 11, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Michael grew up and lived a life rooted in steady devotion to family, faithful service, and the kind of everyday integrity that leaves a lasting mark.

An Army Veteran who served during Vietnam, Mike exemplified duty and perseverance. He later spent more than 30 years as a truck driver with Graves Trucking, earning respect through hard work, reliability, and an honest way of moving through the world—quietly consistent, and always willing to do what needed to be done.

Mike was known for a spirited streak and a sense of humor that could brighten a room without warning. He loved fishing, garage sales, thrifting, tinkering with his fishing rods and boats, and playing shuffleboard. A member of the VFW Wolf Lake Post#4717, he also found camaraderie among friends he cherished deeply—especially his beloved lake family and friends. Above all, he treasured time with those he loved most, and he rarely missed the chance to tease someone in good fun; a jokester at heart, he delighted in laughter and the familiar give-and-take of shared moments.

He leaves to cherish many memories to his son, Michael (Tina) Collins, Jr. and daughter, Mikki Lynn (Pat Gerken) Collins; 3 grandchildren, Andy, Tyler (Kristi) and Brittany (Trey); 5 great-grandchildren, Malina, Lilyah, Alaiah, Maverick and Crue; a sisters, Carolyn Dearduff; and his beloved lake family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard & Velma (nee. White) Collins; a sister, Barbara Beck and a brother, Charles Collins; and his longtime companion, Darlene Goble.

Mike will be remembered as a beloved and cherished father and grandfather—thoughtful in his own way, steadfast in his care for others, and unforgettable for the warmth, wit, and ornery charm that made him who he was.

A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
