Michael E. Groves, 62, of Fort Wayne passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He was born on July 29, 1958 in Fort Wayne. Michael was a very selfless man who would do anything in his power to help those he cared about. Michael loved his family very much and you would normally find him with his mother and grandmother or spending some quality time with his granddaughter. Earlier in life Michael was the owner operator of Groves Landscaping and enjoyed a very loyal and long career at ITT/Harris. Michael had a love for sports from playing High School football, to coaching his son’s little league teams, to watching basketball nightly with his mother and grandmother. Michael wore many hats in his life but his final one of “Tatonka” (grandpa) was definitely his favorite. He will be greatly missed. Michael is survived by his sons, Nicolai and Cody (Mary) Groves; granddaughter, Freyja Groves; mother, Jacqueline Groves; and sisters, Julie (John) Mohrman and Janet (Robert) Reed. He was preceded in passing by his father, James Groves; sister, JaneAnne Groves; and grandmother, Betty Osborne. One of Michael's final wishes was that there be a party instead of a funeral, with a date to be set later. Memorial contributions can be made to Riley’s Children’s Hospital.
