Michael R. Lantz, 78, passed away on June 7, 2025. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on June 11, 1946, to parents Frank Lantz Jr. and M. Virginia (Simmons) Lantz, Michael was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother. Growing up, Michael had a deep love for his 1969 GTO. It was a car he proudly talked about for years, even if his brother didn't quite share the same admiration. He was an all-around fan of sports, especially the Colts and the Mets, and some of his most cherished memories were made while taking his son to different games. Michael had a gift for humor. Always a jokester, he could lift any spirit and make anyone smile. His daily visit to Liberty Diner was a comforting ritual for him, always stopping in to enjoy a warm coffee and a bite to eat. Michael was full of stories, unforgettable in every way and ones that will continue to be passed down through generations. Beyond all else, Michael loved his family fiercely, and that loved shaped every part of his life. Michael is survived by his son, Matthew (Kyla) Lantz; grandchildren, Austin Lantz and Rodka (Alex) Henderson; and brother, Dan Lantz. He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith (Smith) Lantz and his parents. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 1PM at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home 1327 North Wells Street, with visitation prior starting at 11:30AM. Michael will be laid to rest at Bowers Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Family and friends can share condolences to sloanandsonsfuneralhome.com. Michael’s memory will forever be cherished and honored by those whose lives he touched.
