So very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. We went to SSHS together. Always fun, always a smile..such a wonderful guy. Heartfelt sympathy to Mike's family and friends.

I am the former Civil Court Reporter for Steuben Superior Court.  I was deeply saddened to hear about Mike's passing.  He was one of my favorite attorneys, and I enjoyed working with him through the court system.  I will always remember his smiling face.  He will definitely be missed by all.  My condolences to the family.

We are saddened to hear of Mike's passing and hope you fine peace in the days ahead.

I met Michael at "The Tavern " We would discuss sports (especially the CUBS) and college sports involving the local teams especially the Big Ten .  He went to Indiana and me Purdue    He always smiled and laughed and he made me feel appreciated and offered me advice when I asked his opinion on a topic that was important to me.   He understood and was kind and giving.   He had a  great personality and sense of humor and was very personable and down to  earth.  I just knew him from "The Tavern " but I considered him a  friend and I felt he felt the same.   A very nice man. All my best to Cathy and his family.   Peace Michael  and Go CUBS!!

I met Mike 45 years ago and we have been friends ever since. Several years later, I left Indiana to relocate in Arizona .
We have stayed in close touch ever since.
I will miss him.

I met Mike 10 years ago. Since then, he has been a huge part of my life. He helped me tremendously throughout the years. I am very sad about his passing and wanted to reach out to the family so they know they are in my thoughts and how much Mike meant to so many people. During very important parts of my life, on several occasions, Mike brought me comfort, confidence and humor. He could always make me laugh. I trusted all Mikes knowledge and advice. I always joked I wish I could put him in my pocket so I'd have him whenever I needed him after business hours. He had a calmness about him that let you know things would be ok. He become someone I looked up to and I wish I would of been able to thank him one last time. 



Mike was a great guy, good lawyer and lived his life with honesty and integrity.  Hadn't seen him for a long time and was saddened to hear of his passing.  His colleagues in the legal profession will miss him.  

I am so sad to hear about Mike. My love goes out to all of you. Mike was a dear friend and neighbor to our family from the time I was little. I will always remember Mike with a smile on his face as he waved from his mower next door. As an adult, I went to Mike a few times for advice which was always given freely with nothing expected in return. He had a good heart and will be greatly missed.

I am a deputy prosecutor in Steuben county and Mike Morrissey was my adversary as public defender in juvenile cases and child support matters these past 7 years.

On the recent passing of my counterpart, I had been searching for words. To people outside the legal profession, the uninitiated, people think prosecutors and defense attorneys must hate each other because we argue all the time.

Nothing could be further from the truth. We have similar education backgrounds and often know many of the same people working in our profession. We may have contact with a client only for the duration of one particular case but we may run into an attorney many, many times over the course of our careers.

There was an old Looney Tunes cartoon with Sam the sheepdog and Ralph wolf. They stood in line at the time clock to punch in for their morning work and they would say good morning and ask about each other. They obviously cared about each other and were friends but then they clocked in and they worked to outdo each other all day long until time to clock out.  This illustration has been the truest and most accurate representation of what it is like to be an attorney.  I can definitely say that about Mike. We talked about IU sports and about our families.

Mike could be very private, but he was friendly and I respected him immensely. He was reasonable to work with but he stood his ground and put me to the test (rather, put the State to the test) when the situation called for it. He had a big voice that could carry through the courthouse and he had the worst handwriting of any human being I have ever encountered.

I have been shaken and deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Mike was a good lawyer, but he was a better person. I know I am not alone in thinking that.  I sincerely miss him but I am thankful for the time I knew him.

My thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

Mike was a good man and a good attorney.  When I opposed him as the attorney for the other party, he was always congenial.  He never resorted to dirty tactics to get what he wanted.  We discussed each case thoroughly and listened to each other carefully.  We were always able to reach a compromise.  When he wasn't representing the other side on a case, he was always ready to offer information, and if asked for, good advise.  

Mike will be missed by his friends of the Steuben Circuit Court.  Our condolences to the family.
