

Millie J. Holmes, 84, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Angola, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at her home that she shared with her loving caregiver and son-in-law, Dan Finnefrock. She was born on October 10, 1927, to the late Reynold and Louise Relue. In 1948, she married Richard J. Holmes and they celebrated 53 years of marriage prior to his death in 2002. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She is survived by her four children; Terrie (Rev. Steve) Ensley, Shellie (Bruce) Cattell, Richard (Sue) Holmes, and LuAnne Finnefrock, 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Frances Saaf. She was also preceded in death by grandson, Justin Holmes, and sisters, Maxine Shepler and Phyllis Koch. “Millie brought joy and laughter into the lives of her family and friends. Through her experience, strength, and hope she impacted many lives and was dearly loved by those she touched. She enjoyed laughing, reading, puzzle books, eating out, telling stories, music, the color purple, the Game Show Network, and her little dog, Grommet. We, her family, celebrate her life with us, and now her life in heaven!”
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3705 S. Anthony Blvd. with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Steve Ensley will officiate. Calling is also 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday at Klaehn, Fahl, and Melton Funeral Home, 420 West Wayne Street. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Stephen Ministry.
