

Miriam H. Clevenger, 103, passed away on December 20, 2018. She was born May 6, 1915 in Parker City, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Beryl R. Hill and Paul R. Hill. She graduated from Parker High School as valedictorian of her class and from Ball State Teachers College with certifications in Economics, History, Mathematics, and Business Education where she was a member of Pi Gamma Nu and Pi Omega Pi Honorary fraternities. She taught high school in Elwood, Indiana and Parker City, Indiana. She was married to Joseph V. Clevenger in 1939. While rearing her family she worked as a secretary in her husband’s life insurance office. She was a lifelong member of Simpson United Methodist Church, the women’s society of Christian Service, the Helen Dwyer circle and chapter CX of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She enjoyed crafts and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling and took many trips with her husband and after his death, with her dear friend Frances Gantz. She was devoted to her two children, Carolyn (Gene C.) Lavers, and Richard (Sharon) Clevenger; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Matt) Baxter; great-grandchildren, Emily and Charlotte Baxter, who survive. She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Paul Pomeroy; and brother, Paul Hill. Memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Towne House Chapel, 2209 St Joe Center Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.with calling 1 hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to Simpson United Methodist Church. Arrangements entrusted to D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home.
