MURIEL E. HORNBERGER, 84, of Fort Wayne, died on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, 11:51 a.m., at her residence. Born Oct. 6, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Roy David and Grace Walmsley Bender. She was a cadet nurse during World War II. She was a RN for Bluffton and Lutheran Hospitals, retiring after 34 years of service in 1981. She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Richard C. Hornberger of Fort Wayne; son, Carl Hornberger of Kendallville; daughter, Pam (Bill) Hohlbein of Greenfield, Ind.; two grandchildren, Caryl Hornberger and Troy Hornberger; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Hornberger; two brothers, Bill Bender of Fort Wayne and Bob Bender of Zanesville; and one sister, Nancy Sink of Zanesville. Memorial service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Trinity English Lutheran Church. Pastor Frederick Hasecke officiating.
